Preparing For Ceremony

Preparation

There is no specific diet required for Kambô, but there are a few recommendations and requirements to keep the ceremony process as safe as possible. There is a medical questionnaire and waiver form that needs to be reviewed and completed. This questionnaire is used to screen all those who are interested in Kambô for any contraindications. Emily will email this to you as soon as you express interest in scheduling a Kambô session.

Alcohol needs to be discontinued for 24hrs before the ceremony. All cannabis products need to be avoided for a minimum of 12 hours before. Most, if not all, recreational drugs must be discontinued prior to ceremony. Some need to be out of the system for a minimum of 7 days.

A complete fast is required for 6-8 hours before the ceremony. No food, beverages, coffee, caffeine, energy drinks, medication or supplements the morning of the ceremony. You may take tiny small sips of water, but nothing more than 6 ounces. You can resume all medications and/or supplements after your ceremony if needed. DO NOT ABSTAIN FROM SALT IN THE DAYS BEFORE YOUR SESSION.

In the days and weeks before your ceremony it is recommended that you take very good care of yourself. Eat healthy, nourishing foods, and stay hydrated in the days before your ceremony. You will need your strength for the ceremony so it is best to be prepared. In the days before ceremony avoid alcohol, dairy, sugar, and spicy food. Salt is okay! Eating whole, nourishing, organic food before and after kambo will best support your body in the detox process.

Intention for sitting with kambo is very important. What is calling you to sit with kambo? Are there certain components to life that you would like to see improve? Is there something you would like to heal emotionally, physically, or spiritually? Taking time to meditate, journal, and go within yourself in the days before your ceremony can help with clarity to your process. Having an intention is important when it comes to working with kambo. Kambo is such a powerful tool and works intuitively with your process. Kambo has the power to heal emotionally, physically, spiritually, and energetically. Speak to the spirit of the frog in the days and weeks before your ceremony. Kambo can heal addictions, energetic blocks, and can assist a person in finding their truth. Hold this intention dear to you and expect changes and shifts in the days, weeks, and months after your ceremony.

Those receiving kambo for the first time typically receive a basic treatment - three to seven points on the arm or inner ankle. All initial treatments always begin with one test point. This is a single point of kambo applied to gauge a person’s reaction before placing the rest of the kambo on at once. Traditional placement for men is typically on the left arm and the right inner ankle for women. Each person then drinks one and a half liters of room temperature water within 10 minutes of kambo being placed on the skin. The water gives you something to purge when the time comes as well as is a way for toxins to be removed from your body during your session.

Private one on one ceremonies usually take at least two hours to complete. This includes meditation with Sananga & Hapé, Kambô, sound healing, and time to rest.

Kambo is a very energetic modality, it is best to arrive to your ceremony in good overall health. It is recommended to be free from any active viral activity, colds, flus, or any other illnesses. If you are actively sick the ceremony will be rescheduled.
